Alt Attribute

Definition: Alt Attributes are text equivalents that accompany images so that persons with disabilities, such as vision impairments, can get the general idea of what an image on a webpage conveys. Alt attributes are also useful for stripped Internet browsers that are unable to display images for whatever reason.

You can view alt attributes by hovering over images. To attach an alt attribute, simply insert a descriptive line of text (ideally no more than 125 characters in length) in the HTML code for that image, like so:
