Definition: An Internet meme is an idea that is conceptualized and spread via the Internet and has most likely become viral at one point.

The Internet meme comes from the more general term, meme (pronounced /'mi?m/, rhyming with "cream"). A meme is an idea, behavior or style that spreads between people in particular cultures.

A great example of an Internet meme is the, Honey Badger video that gained fame on the Internet.
