Definition: A search engine is a tool used to search, locate and access websites on the Internet.

Browsers can go to a search engine, enter key words or key phrases, and the search engine will generate a SERP with clickable links that correspond to the query terms.

There are dozens of popular search engines available to web surfers including Google.com, Yahoo.com, MSN.com, and Ask.com.
