Definition: Trending Topics - Trending topics are the most talked about topics currently being discussed on Twitter. Most of the time, hash tags (#) precede the words that are trending without any spaces i.e #socialmedia. In addition, there can also be "promoted trending topics" which are usually paid for by big name brands. When clicking on a trending topic, you will be redirected to a feed where everyone is discussing the specific topic.
