It's easy to set up a Facebook page and make it look somewhat appealing to the user, but what about actively managing a Facebook account to engage fans and engage new ones?

1.) Post Images
As proof from the tremendous growth of Pinterest, images are incredibly appealing to the eye thus creating more interaction from the fan. Visually pleasing images are easy to latch onto while browsing through the newsfeed. All photos are not created equal, however.
It helps the cause to use photos that include influential people or things within the industry. This not only increases the chances that more people will take the time to engage with it, but also increases the credibility of the Facebook page. The page will then be associated with the influential and recognizable figures within the market and become a go-to source for useful and informative information.
2.) Effective Questions
Many pages tend to ask questions in hopes of getting fans to interact, answer, and share the questions with their friends. A lot of businesses do not realize that some questions work better than others.
Simple Yes/No questions are useful because they are very easy to answer. It will take little thought and a very quick response out of the fan and capture a lot of traffic before the company knows it. Another question is one of value creation. Give the fan a reason to answer the question. A good example of this could be, "Who likes ABC Apparel? Comment ‘yes' for a 10% off coupon code." Also, there are questions that draw people in on an emotional level. A question to the target market that is so in tune with their emotions will have them not help but want to engage with the post.
3.) Sharing Shorts
There are some minute details that tend to help gain more interaction as well. For instance, the best day of the week to create the most interaction is Wednesday. A fan page shouldn't become spam and annoy the fans either, so it is shown that 1-2 posts a day is much more effective than 3 or more posts a day. Likewise, without being overbearing, it is more engaging to fans if posts are kept under 80 characters rather than having long enduring rants that users have no interest in reading.
