When marketing your brand on Facebook it's easy to lose sight of your main goal and become distracted by the influx of advertisements, friends and the endless amount of information that displays 24/7 in your newsfeed. It's time to redirect your attention. Here are three fan page components that should not be overlooked: growth, engagement and monetization.

Grow:
There are various ways to grow your fan base. Inviting friends, running Facebook ads or cross-promoting through newsletters, email signatures and in-store displays are just a few ways. Regardless of how you're doing it, growing your fan base is a must in order to run an effective Facebook marketing campaign.
Engage:
Now that you've grown your page and actually have an audience listening to you, it's time to connect with your fan base. Engage them with questions, hot topics, contests, discounts and giveaways. Try an assortment of updates to help you discover what works for the page, and what doesn't. Checking your Facebook insights on a daily or weekly basis may also uncover key information about your fan page.
Monetize:
You have a good following on Facebook and hopefully the majority of them are engaged, but now what?! It's time to capitalize on the fan page you've built. Perhaps your goal is to generate leads through a contact form, boost site registration or increase product sales. Whatever your goal may be, Facebook can be the tool that ensures you are one step closer to reaching it. Build an app (aka tab) that directly relates to your goal. If you're trying to get contest submissions, build a contest app on your fan page where people can enter without ever having to leave Facebook. Little things like this may seem insignificant to some but can drastically improve results and be the deciding factor for the success of your overall Facebook campaign.
