Apple has announced their latest gadget: the iPad mini. The new and smaller tablet is 7.9 inches. iPad mini will be avaialble to order in both black and white. Apple may have created the iPad mini to compete with other tablet models which also have smaller screens than the original iPad. While the iPad mini is more portable than previous models, it features the same resolution as the iPad 2 (1024 x 768.) It is also just as fast as the iPad 2 which runs on an A5 chip. The iPad mini features a high-resolution 5-megapixel camera in the back and a 720p front camera which can be used for taking self portraits or Face Time. The device also features Apple's Lightning connector that is also used on the iPhone 5.
Design
Apple had a clear goal in mind when creating the iPad mini. They hoped to create a smaller device that would still deliver the same way that previous iPad models have. The iPad mini is 23% lighter than the iPad 2 and 53% thinner. Another unique quality about the iPad mini is that it can be used with one hand. It also features a unibody structure that holds all of the powerful parts that are build into the device. The display seems impressivley vibrant, although it does not feature a Retina display.
Pricing
The iPad mini will be available in WiFi only models as well as 4G options if you wish to be connected at all times. Rate plans vary based on mobile service provider.
