Facebook redesigns their photo layout!
It appears that Facebook is currently testing a new photo format that will allow users to see up to 100 photos on a single page. In addition to the increased number of photos per page, each photo now also appears larger and more detailed than photos previously did.
The strange thing about Facebook's newly designed photo format?
It looks just like Google's format that was stolen from Bing, as told in my blog ‘Google Images Steals Bing's Design Layout'. The only difference is that Facebook's new layout does not have as much spacing between each photo and each photo is larger than both Google and Bing's layout. Everything else about Facebook's new photo format, including the ability to see countless images at once, looks way too similar to search engines Google and Bing

So let me get this straight:
Bing comes out with an awesome image layout. Google sees how great it is and decides to replicate the exact same design. Then, Facebook, who is currently battling Google, also decides to use both Google and Bing's design format for their new photo gallery layout?!
This mixed up thieving triangle shows just how intensely companies are trying to compete with each other; all of them just aiming to get to the top (and stay there)!
What do you think about Facebook's new photo design?
In the past, I only used Bing.com to search for pictures because I loved how simple and easy it was to navigate through so many photos at once. With that said, I'm all for Facebook's new layout, just as I was with Google's new layout- but mostly because it's an exact replication of Bing's layout!
This new photo format is a minor change for Facebook but I believe it will heavily impact the experience of all 500 million Facebook users. If Facebook decides to keep this layout, I'm sure it'll only be a week or two before users forget what the old layout even looked like!
Does this new Facebook layout include Face Recognition?
While browsing through Facebook's new picture layout, I momentarily wondered if this new design would incorporate the face recognition feature that's' been underway at this social networking site for the past few months. However, I quickly realized that this layout just assumes your face is towards the top of the photo and no facial detection was integrated in the new photo format.
You can see an example below. The two circled photos include faces towards the bottom of the pictures. The rest of the photos have the faces at the top.
