Maybe it's due to facebook's complicated privacy settings...or maybe it's because of the never-ending stream of information available online these days, but it seems that facebook stalking has become the latest trend among Internet users worldwide.
Whether it's checking up on an old flame, an old co-worker, or that kid you went to grammar school with- more and more users are using facebook to secretly stalk each other.
So what exactly is facebook stalking?
According to Urbandictionary.com: Facebook Stalking, like regular stalking, allows the stalker to secretly gather information about the person they are interested in. Unlike regular stalking, Facebook Stalking is less likely to have an illegal component and is generally accepted by its voyeuristic victims. The argument being, that if you didn't want others to know about your life, you wouldn't post it all over the internet.
Facebook Stalking, also known as Facebook Creeping, has become the latest Internet trend.

- Facebook Stalker Apps- We've all seen these fb apps that claim to uncover who has been looking at your profile, and maybe you've even tried a stalker tracking app yourself, but these fb stalker apps definitely don't work, so don't believe everything anything these apps claim.
- Facebook Stalking can be a crime- especially if the stalking continues offline, like in the case of Pradeep Manukonda who facebook stalked the founder of facebook himself (Mark Zuckerberg), which resulted in a restraining order for Pradeep, the ultimate facebook stalker.

- Facebook Stalking is socially acceptable- as long as no one finds out...and it's done in the privacy of your home, that is. Corrie Pikul of Elle Magazine even wrote a piece sharing her secret "Confessions of a Facebook Stalker", where she claims snooping can either hold you back or help you move forward.
- Facebook Stalking Tips. Yes, your read that correctly. As facebook stalking becomes more common, facebook stalking tips are becoming more widespread. Here are a few of my favorites from College Candy's Facebook Creepin' Guide:
- Do not creep from your cell phone! It's much easier to accidentally click on something you didn't mean to (i.e."liking" your ex-boyfriend's picture of him and his new lady friend) when using a touch screen. Trust me.
- Do realize you need to draw the line somewhere. Checking to see that your ex downgraded with his new girl? Fine. But her friends, her ex-boyfriends, and her sorority sisters? Definitely a don't.
- Never, ever, EVER post comments and "like" a post of a person you're stalking.Especially if that was a status update from 2007. I know what you're thinking: "Who does that?!" But people do...and it's creepy. The key here is to continue creepingwithoutbeing noticed. Get it?
- Facebook Stalking YouTube Videos- YouTube has a ton of video skits, parodies, and tips on facebook stalking. Just search for 'facebook stalking' or 'facebook creeping' and you'll see the many videos related to this topic that are currently on Youtube.com.
I'm ending this blog with this YouTube video, ‘The Facebook Skit', a hilarious parody of Enrique Iglesias' song, Hero, performed by Hindi a capella group, Penn Masala. Enjoy!
"I can be your facebook stalker. I can click away the pain. I'll be on your wall forever. You can't take my mouse away."
