Looking to make a fan page for your business on Google+? Well, you're just going to have to wait. But it won't be for as long as some initially thought.
Google continues to stick to its promise of deleting non-individual pages for the time being. This will all change, of course, when the official Google+ business page is unveiled. But for now, Google will continue to delete any business pages it finds, regardless of the size or importance of the company.
According to Christian Oestlien of the Google+ Blog, however, Google is doing everything it can to accelerate the process of creating the Google+ business page. Due to a high level of interest in creating such pages, Google has "refocused a few priorities and [it] expect[s] to have an initial of businesses profiles up and running for EVERYONE in the next few months." It is apparent that Google sees the demand for business pages and is working hard to get them ready. Oestlien also released a quick video update on Google+ for businesses, which you can watch here.
The Google+ business page could be a key catalyst in Google's attempt to dethrone Facebook as the king of all social networks. As of now, momentum for Google+ is high, with the new site now at over 20 million users. Facebook towers over it with over 500 million users, but was dealt a blow this week in the American Customer Satisfaction Index results. Facebook received the lowest customer service ranking out of all social media sites.
Regardless of what is going on with Facebook, Google will not let profiles for businesses exist until the official page is ready (outside of a handful of businesses they have selected to use for testing purposes). In the words of Oestlien, "Doing it right is worth the wait." If you have a business that is ready for Google+, waiting is what you'll have to do. But you can rest assured that it won't be for too long.
