Linking your social media accounts is
easier than ever whether it's on your phone, tablet, or laptop. There
are a few
tricks to optimize your posts to grab attention to yourself or your business
brand. Adding a simple hashtag or keyword will hopefully draw in Likes on Facebook and retweets on Twitter.
Sites like seesmic.com were developed to
synchronize your Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, Tumblr, and/or Wordpress but you
can only post to three platforms at once. WOMP! There is a way around this if
you want to pay; I believe you can do it the old fashioned way.
If you are using social media for your personal interests (you
take selfies)
I recommend posting from Instagram. Start off by linking your Tumblr, Twitter,
and Facebook account to your Instagram account. Add hashtags to your pictures on
Instagram so once they are uploaded those hashtags will appear on the Twittersphere.
If you want more traffic onto your Tumblr - you manually have to add hashtags
by editing the post. Another tricky part is the hashtags will also appear on
Facebook but I suggest editing the picture description by removing all the
hashtags. Hashtags on Facebook serve no purpose for your posts; they are
regarded as a nuisance. If your friends are in the pic you submitted via Instagram
make sure to tag them and spread the love.
Also, Instagram
recently updated their app providing a spiffier map function that tags
where your pictures were taken on the spot. I recommend also linking your foursquare
account to your Instagram and ‘checking in' via your Instagram. This will
help give you a presence on the web and hopefully get you some
rewards and perks via Foursquare. The Foursquare check-in will also show up on
your Facebook Timeline and Tumblr blogs. Another Instagram update to be aware
of is when you Like a Instagram uploaded picture from your Facebook newsfeed it
automatically is liked to Instagram - kind of neat.

If you are using social media to build a presence
for your business I recommend posting via Pinterest. Say you wrote
a blog through your website; make sure to optimize the post with pictures. When
you pin your blog post to Pinterest you
have a choice of which picture you want as the Pin cover. Visuals play a big
role in social media, so do choose appealing pictures for your posts. In the ‘Description'
section add a few words on your post and hashtag the big keywords. Below I
added a hashtag to Tumblr because when this Pin goes onto my Twitter the Twittersphere will pick up my #Tumblr hashtag. My Pin picture is a GIF of an Iguana rocking
back and forth on a rocking chair; can it get more intriguing than that?

Syncing all your social media accounts is tricky but by dedicating
time to establish your web presence you will see results. There are tools to
track your web presence; my favorite being Klout which rates you from 0-100; since I've started working at my account my Klout
score has gone mid 40s to an average of 60. Klout analyzes your activity on
Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, and Instagram and gives you free gifts as
you improve your online presence. How do
you manage your social media accounts?
