Struggling to decide who to follow on Twitter? Check out Twtrland, a new service that can provide analytics on any Twitter page.

Simply go to twtrland.com and type in the handle of the Twitter user you want to analyze in the search bar at the top. If this is the first time the profile has been analyzed, it will take about one minute for their page to show up; if it has been done before, it will pop up quickly. From there, you can see a host of relevant information on the Twitter user you're analyzing. Below is the Twtrland page for Hudson Horizons.

As you can see, the data provided is plentiful. When looking at someone's Twtrland page, you'll see a ton of information, including:

  • How often they get retweeted
  • How many times per day they tweet
  • How often they retweet other tweets
  • A pie graph showing their distribution of plain tweets, links, retweets, and replies
  • Their number of followers, following, and all-time tweets
  • Their top followers
  • Their most retweeted tweets (or "famous words")
  • A sampling of their tweets

According to its website, Twtrland has two goals. The first is to make all the information that is published on Twitter available in an easy-to-view fashion both for those with and without Twitter accounts. The second is to help those with Twitter accounts decide on who to follow. "One of the main conflicts a twitter user encounters is deciding if someone is follow-worthy," says the Twtrland website. "These are not your real life friends, but people that are supposed to interest you. Hard to decide based on last 10-15 tweets, avatar and description. We go deep in his history, and sum it all up to the simplest profile we could think of to help you decide in a glimpse. to follow or not to follow."

Twtrland is also a useful resource for users to use on themselves. User Twtrland to monitor your Twitter tendencies, and then adjust them accordingly. Until now, the raw data to illuminate such tendencies was not available. With Twtrland, it is. What do you think about the new service?

It's been a busy a busy week for Twitter. Check recent twitter news here and here. And for more updates on Twitter, be sure to subscribe to the Hudson Horizons blog.
