Tagged as the biggest night in Hollywood, the Oscars never cease to amaze fans with the extravagant outfits and high quality acting put on in some of the year's best motion pictures.
The Academy Awards ceremony last night shattered its record of tweets throughout the show compared to last year's awards. Tweeting numbers grew 250% from 966,000 last year to 3.44 million last night. These numbers seem large until they are shown alongside other Twitter "booms" this year like the Grammys and Super Bowl XLVI. The Super Bowl increased its "tweet-load" by 580% to 12,000,000. The Grammys rose by 2300% to 13 million tweets during the show!!
One of the many highlights of last night's show was Angelina Jolie's right leg. That's right, her leg. She wore a dress that bared a large majority of her right leg that had many men all around the world drooling. The best part perhaps of this whole ordeal is the fact that moments after Angelina Jolie stepped onto the red carpet to show off her stuff, a twitter account was created: @AngiesRightLeg. This Twitter account has attracted over 15,000 followers since last night.
Another viral occurrence from last night was the Ryan Seacrest interview on the red carpet with "The Dictator." Sacha Baron Cohen was dressed as his newest character for a movie coming out this year while walking the red carpet. He mentioned he had his urn filled with Kim Jong Il's ashes and then went on to "accidently" spill the ashes all over Seacrest. Seacrest was a good sport about it tweeting:

The height of tweeting last night came during the Cirque Du Soleil performance. The peak of the entire 3 hour award show came during this display of acrobatic entertainment with 18,718 tweets per second.
