There is no denying the fact that Apple has repeatedly set the standard for modern technology. From iPods to iPads, Apple has consistently remained on the forefront of technological advances. Some might even describe Apple as a cult, due to its die-hard band of followers. For those who don't fall into the Apple-obsessed category, the newest hype is the anticipated release of the iPhone 5.

Disregarding the other questions in the search box (Thanksgiving falls on November 22, 2012) it is clear that our fellow Googlers are quite antsy about Apple's next generation iPhone. As with all great questions that lack a definite answer, a vast array of rumors have surfaced all over the World Wide Web. Whether you're an Apple friend or foe, the rumors are definitely interesting.
Release date: Rumors of the release date have been circulating the internet for over a year, with the general consensus being mid October. However, new rumors have surfaced that Apple will release the iPhone 5 at a "special event" on September 12, 2012. Rumors also speculate that Apple will release the iPad Mini and new iPod Nano the same day.
The new look: If nothing else, Apple has definitely mastered the art of aesthetics in all of their product designs. Bright colors, high resolution images and sleek external designs have definitely contributed to the high level of sales for Mac products. According to rumors, the iPhone 5 (assuming Apple doesn't pull a fast one and change its name completely) will be a thinner device with a larger display. If this accusation is true, the next iPhone will likely skyrocket sales based on its new design alone.

Improved camera: With all the hype of FaceTime chat on the iPhone, it's no surprise that rumors of an improved front-facing camera have come to light. Apparently, the new camera will be in HD and provide the clearest image yet. As for the rear-facing camera, it is likely that it will also provide better photo quality.
Increased security: One of the most interesting rumors is in regard to security features on the next generation iPhone. Perhaps it's simply coincidence, but last week Apple announced its acquisition of the company of AuthenTec for $356 million. AuthenTec specializes in fingerprint recognition and content security. The acquisition of this company could potentially make Apple products the most technologically advanced, multifaceted devices known to man. Imagine replacing your phone's passcode with a simple finger print scan..

These are only a few of the rumors that have surfaced in regard to the iPhone 5. While some new features are expected (4G LTE, anyone?), others are very enticing. Which rumor do you find most interesting? Comment below!
