As you may have all heard by now, Apple’s iOS 6 Maps app has created quite a stir over the past few weeks. After Google's algorithm was questioned in the Google Webmaster Forum earlier this month, the search engine giant reported that they do not, in fact, incorporate a "white-list for algorithms", but a recent statement from Matt Cutts proves completely different. Last week at SMX West, Barry Schwartz reported that the head of Google's webspam team, Matt Cutts, answered this very same question during the Spam Police panel. Schwartz describes his answer as long and detailed, but the bottom line is that Google d... read more.

Bing has been working on a variety of new features that will most likely put it in direct competition with Google.  Bing has partnered up with Facebook to include "Likes" in their searches.  Bing also offers sporting ticket information directly from FanShop. They also have gone a step further to improve the image and local area searches as well to make them easier to navigate.  What do I mean by "Likes" in a search?  Simple, if one of your friends's "Likes" a Fan Page or even a comment... read more.

In terms of SEO, the order in which sites are ranked on each SERP typically varies based on individual search engine algorithms. However, now tha... read more.

What is the search alliance? Yahoo and Microsoft have announced an integration of two popular search engines: Yahoo and Bing. With this integration, Microsoft will now be the sole provider of both paid and organic results for both search engines. Now this is where it gets a bit confusing. You can still go to Yahoo and Bing to search separately but the results will be coming straight from Microsoft for both search engines. So although they will appear to be unconnected, this alliance will, in fact, prod... read more.

Facebook redesigns their photo layout! It appears that Facebook is currently testing a new photo format that will allow users to see up to 100 photos on a single page. In addition to the increased number of photos per page, each photo now also appears larger and more detailed than photos previously did. The strange thing about Facebook's newly designed photo format? It looks just like Google's format that was stolen from Bing, as told in my blog ‘Google Images Steals Bing's Design Layout'.
