Reports by Wall Street Journal and other news sources claim Google will be implementing a major overhaul to the Google Search Engine. Google wants to make a more "semantic search" experience for its users. Google plans to build formulas that will better understand the meanings of words. For instance, it will better differentiate Tide the laundry detergent and tide the ocean current term. The Google team plans to roll this program out within the next few months. The most popular search engine in the World has recently come under heavy fire for its self-promotion of Google+ - Google's relatively new social network launched last summer. Google's new feature ‘Search Plus Your World' will integrate comments and photos from Google+ into Google search results. The goal is to give each u... read more.

When Google launched its social network Google+ this past summer, the option for businesses to join wasn't available. It wasn't until early November when Google added brand pages for businesses. Facebook's brand pages has proven to be influential in giving businesses a marketing boost, and as Twitter's redesign plans to replicate the same success with its brand pages, launching your business' brand page on Google+ also has some important benefits. Google recently opened their Google+ platform to businesses this week and suddenly Google is back on the social networking map. As a business, why should you care? When initially exploring Google+ Pages, I will confess that I was a bit disappointed. Businesses who gained early access to Google+ were immediately asked by Google to stop. So when Google launched Google+ Pages, after the anticipation had built up my expectations, I was underwhelmed with what I found. But once I got over it, I remembered all... read more.

This weekend, Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt answered a quick question from reporter Andy Carvin in Edinburgh about Google+. The question was regarding how Google+ can justify its names policy, which, unlike Facebook and other social networks, forces everyone to use their real names. Schmidt's answer casts Google+ in a different light than many see it in.... read more.

It took Google+ 24 days to gain the amount of users it took Facebook and Twitter over 1,000 days to achieve. A recent report from Mashable explains though that usership traffic has decreased. Hopefully as more extensions and appplications are developed, Google+ members will find greater ease in incorporating Plus to their current social media regimen. *Just to clarify, the extensions are made for Google Chrome, which is obviously appropriate to develop across Google to Google. The extensions have been la... read more.

Whether Google+ will eventually overtake Facebook and Twitter as the king of social networks is still very much uncertain. This much, however, is already known: in terms of growth rate, it is absolutely smashing them to pieces. The chart below, posted by Google's Leon Haland on Google+, shows just how quickly Google+ is growing compared to the rises of Facebook and Twitter. As one can see, it took Google+ only twenty-four days to reach twenty million users. It took Twitter 1,035 days to reach the same nu... read more.

Looking to make a fan page for your business on Google+? Well, you're just going to have to wait. But it won't be for as long as some initially thought. Google continues to stick to its promise of deleting non-individual pages for the time being. This will all change, of course, when the official Google+ business page is unveiled. But for now, Google will continue to delete any business pages it finds, regardless of the size or importance of the company. According to Christian Oestlien of the Google+ Bl... read more.
