To the surprise of many, Chicago-based daily deal site Groupon has raised $700 million with the largest Internet IPO since Google Inc in 2004. Despite skeptics and criticisms from analysts, Groupon has raised 30-percent more than they originally anticipated with their initial public offering. Groupon begins trading today on NASDAQ as "GRPN." With the float at 35 million shares at $20 a share, shares were valued $2 more than the original top price. The rumors are true: according to Mashable, Foursquare and Groupon have decided to strike a partnership. The two popular young companies have reached an agreement that will put Groupon's daily deals in the Explore tab of the Foursqaure application beginning Friday.
