Netflix can't seem to catch a break. Investors have filed a class action lawsuit in Northern California claiming that the movie rental and streaming service withheld valuable information from shareholders. These shareholders are claiming that Netflix gave false statements about the business despite internally anticipating the changes in their business model, pricing and policies. Since its July decision to raise prices by charging separately for mail-order DVDs and instant streaming, Netflix has been in a free-fall. The company has seen its stock fall by 50%, experienced massive negative feedback from users, and has lost customers and content partners alike. Netflix announced on Tuesday that they will no longer be offering a plan with both streaming and DVD rentals together. Netflix will now be offering two separate plans with different rental options for both. Changes go in effect for existing Netflix subscribers in September 2011 while new members must join with these adjusted price changes.
